Michael Ghil,
Distinguished Professor Emeritus at the École Normale
Supérieure (Paris) and Distinguished Research Professor at the University of
California, Los Angeles (UCLA), was invited by Prof. S. Pierini to visit the
DiST under the call "Visiting-In" of the University of Naples
Parthenope (D.R. 501, 10-6-2016) to carry out a teaching activity and to
continue a well-established scientific
collaboration. As a consequence, Prof. M. Ghil was appointed Visiting
Professor of the University of Naples Parthenope for the period 20-30
October, 2016. In that occasion Prof. M. Ghil gave a series of four
seminars in the framework of the PhD in Environmental
Phenomena and Risks entitled: Nonlinearity,
tipping points and chaos in the climate sciences The
